Great food, great sauce, good beers, great vibe, good service. Can't beat it.
Always stop when I'm in town. Crap chips are phenomenal, smoked wings shouldn't be missed, beef brisket, smoked Mac n cheese, and the original sauce.
Highly recommend. -

Second time here, came with my brother and fiancé this time. The food is here sooo good! It's in a shopping mall so it's not a building on its own that stands out but it's easy to find! They do need a bigger sign out front though! They have good deals each day and good beer that changes. Their blood orange beer is AMAZING!!
Bartender was very friendly and helpful. Boyfriend got The Hill Burger and loved it, brother got Turkey Stack as he says he gets it every time (he comes here at least once a week!) and I got the Pulled Pork Sandwich, sooo good!! We got the sweet potato fries and if you get them be sure to ask for honey.....so darn good!! Just dip the fries in the honey...heaven! The pulled pork does not have much flavor (hence the 4 stars) but you can add whichever sauce on you want. I do wish the pulled pork sandwich came already sauces. But the sauces they have on the table are good! Tangy is the best one.
All in all, great food, but very busy place so come early! I will def be coming back often! -

Hempen Hill definitely hits the spot when you're in town and craving BBQ. It's a nice little tucked away spot in a quiet strip mall surrounded by offices and a cool little gelato shop next door. While I did think the service was a bit slow, I had some of the best brisket I've had in a long time.... Yum... It was very soft, tender, and definitely full of flavor. No knife required. I opted for the smaller, "Dallas-size" portion. Bring your appetite! It's a lot of meat. I thought the brisket sauce was just okay. I preferred their house BBQ sauces in the bottles much more.
If you can't decide on apps.... I would highly recommend the Crab Chips!! Crunchy toasted kettle chips loaded with cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, sliced scallions, and lots of crab meat. You can't go wrong with this one!
Enjoy! -

Wonderful Restaurant! Our sever John was very professional and never made a wrong step. Good was delicious. I ordered the Summer Hummus plate, vegetables were fresh and clean while the hummus and cheese spread was well seasoned and tasty. For my dinner I had a cup of ham and bean soup, with a large garden salad that had old bay ranch. It was so super good! Really recommend!

Hempen Hill is a refreshing option in an area that isn't exactly brimming in flavor & diverse food selection. They have a solid menu, good service, and a fun atmosphere.
I recently had a late Saturday afternoon lunch here with a group of 9 & they were happy to have us even through we all yelled and giggled and played games while waiting for our food.
Everything was delicious and filling, but MAN I love sweet potatoes and I was in heaven. Sweet potato fries cooked perfectly, and delicious melty sweet potato biscuits that could make a grown man cry.
Also - as any good Marylander should, I recommend the crab chips!
